i-monitor
Brief
iMonitor is one of the new and interesting companies in the AUT Tech Park incubator programme. iMonitor has developed a battery powered radio probe which can be inserted into any product to measure its core temperature with great accuracy. It also measures the surrounding air temperature/humidity and can work out the physical location of the probe position in the network. Using data from locator receivers placed around the walls and ceiling of a storage area or cool store, it can measure temperature and humidity. It also collects information from up to twenty nearby product monitors. This information is then transmitted via radio to a data collection point for logging and display on a computer, or forwarded via an internet connection to your premises.
Outcome
Procreate reviewed iMonitor’s initial in house designs and worked with the internal design team to set a design direction that still allowed iMonitor to utilise its own experience and fresh graduate thinking. This approach ensured that the products were fully sealed and robust enough for the industrial environment they were to be deployed in, while keeping the product development cost down. The final iMonitor product developed into a high quality, durable tool that was highly desirable to its target market.
